PASSADO, PRESENTE E FUTURO: DISCUTINDO A RELEVÂNCIA DOS ESTUDOS DO DISCURSO

No presente, os Estudos do discurso apresentam-se como uma área multifacetada, dispersa, fragmentada em correntes de análise, escolas e enquadramentos teórico- metodológicos que, por vezes, dialogam pouco. Esta situação reflete-se, por exemplo, nos Encontros da área, em que se cruzam tantas tendências diferentes como a dos Estudos críticos do discurso, a Semiolinguística, o Interacionismo sociodiscursivo, a Linguística Textual, os Estudos discursivos “de linha francesa”, os Estudos da argumentação, os Estudos semióticos, os dialógicos, a Análise das Interações sócioverbais, para nomear apenas algumas. Os pesquisadores tendem a aprender e desenvolver a sua investigação dentro de enquadramentos específicos, quase que “professando” os princípios de análise de uma determinada escola, sem estabelecer diálogo com outras formas de olhar o objeto discurso.

Que vantagens e desvantagens resultam deste estado da arte?

No futuro, poderão os pesquisadores dos Estudos do discurso focalizar o que os une, dialogando mais com outras correntes e tendências para além da sua? Será possível construir uma área de estudos mais coesa, mais concentrada nos objetivos comuns do que nas diferenças de aparatos teóricos e metodológicos? Poderá uma visão mais compreensiva projetar um olhar mais profundo sobre a forma como nós humanos usamos a linguagem?

É neste quadro, com mais perguntas do que respostas, que as JADIS IX e o CIED IV elegem o tema Passado, Presente e Futuro: discutindo a relevância dos Estudos do discurso. Assumindo-se como amplo, o tema favorece o diálogo entre diferentes correntes dos Estudos do Discurso, entre diferentes áreas das Ciências da Linguagem e entre diferentes disciplinas das Ciências Sociais, convidando a uma reflexão integrada sobre o objeto discurso e a sua relevância científica e social.



CONDIÇÕES DE PARTICIPAÇÃO:

Sessões plenárias e workshops: conduzidas por conferencistas convidados.
Sessões de comunicações individuais: selecionadas por submissão de resumos. As comunicações individuais terão a duração de 20 minutos, acrescidos de 10 minutos para discussão.
Painéis temáticos: poderão ser submetidas propostas de painéis temáticos de um máximo de 5 cinco participantes e um mínimo de 4 (um deles será o coordenador). O coordenador de painel deverá enviar uma proposta de tema e resumo do Painel; número e identificação dos participantes e resumo de cada uma das participações (segundo instruções abaixo).
Sessões de posters: admite-se também a participação através de poster. Cada poster poderá ter um máximo de dois autores.

SUBMISSÃO DE PROPOSTAS:

Todas as propostas devem conter os seguintes elementos:

Indicação de modalidade de participação: comunicação oral, póster, painel temático.
Identificação: nome do(s) autor(es); filiação institucional, contactos (telefone e email) e título do trabalho. São elegíveis estudantes de pós-graduação, docentes e investigadores.
Resumo: até 300 palavras, incluindo: título; objetivos, fundamentação teórica, metodologia, resultados, bibliografia essencial (no mínimo, 3 referências).
Palavras-chave: de 3 a 5 palavras-chave.

As propostas poderão ser submetidas em português, inglês, espanhol ou francês, na plataforma Easychair.

Data limite de envio das propostas: 15 de julho.
Data limite de notificação de aceitação: 30 de julho.

Está prevista a publicação de um volume com uma seleção das comunicações apresentadas no Encontro.

- O encontro decorrerá em formato presencial no Centro de Estudos da Cultura em Portugal da Universidade do Porto (Casa dos Livros), entre os dias 12, 13 e 14 de outubro de 2022.
- O encontro prevê a possibilidade de inscrição de 50 comunicações em formato virtual. O número muito limitado de comunicações neste formato privilegiará a seleção de candidatos oriundos do Brasil e, dentro destes, de candidatos sem possibilidade de se deslocarem presencialmente à Universidade do Porto. Os participantes que pretendam apresentar comunicação em formato virtual deverão explicitar essa informação na sua proposta.
- A apresentação em formato virtual será restrita a apenas um dos dias do Encontro.
- O Encontro presencial não será difundido virtualmente.

PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE: DISCUSSING THE RELEVANCE OF DISCOURSE STUDIES

At present, Discourse Studies presents itself as a multifaceted area, dispersed, fragmented into streams of analysis, schools and theoretical and methodological frameworks that sometimes engage in little dialogue. This situation is reflected, for example, in the area’s meetings, where so many different trends come together, such as Critical Discourse Studies, Semiolinguistics, Socio-discursive Interactionism, Textual Linguistics, ‘French Discourse Analysis”, Argumentation Studies, Semiotic Studies, Dialogic Studies, Analysis of Socioverbal Interactions, to name but a few. Researchers tend to learn and develop their research within specific frameworks, almost “professing” the principles of analysis of a particular school, without establishing dialogue with other ways of looking at discourse.

What advantages and disadvantages result from this state of the art?

In the future, can Discourse Studies researchers focus on what unites them, dialoguing more with other currents and trends beyond their own? Will it be possible to build a more cohesive area of studies, more focused on common objectives than on differences in theoretical and methodological apparatuses? Can a more comprehensive vision project a deeper look at the way we humans use language?

It is in this context, with more questions than answers, that JADIS IX and CIED IV chose the theme Past, Present and Future: discussing the relevance of Discourse Studies. Assuming itself as broad, the theme favours the dialogue between different currents of Discourse Studies, between different areas of Language Sciences and between different disciplines of Social Sciences, inviting to an integrated reflection on the object discourse and its scientific and social relevance.



PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS:

Plenary sessions and workhops: with invited speakers.
Parallel sessions:: speakers selected by means of abstract submission. Papers will be allocated 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions.
Thematic panels: thematic panel proposals should include 4 or 5 speakers (one of them being the coordinator). The coordinator of the panel will be responsible for submitting a theme proposal, the panel abstract, identification of the participants and the abstract of each talk.
Posters: a poster presentations are also allowed (max. 2 authors per poster).

PROPOSALS:

All the Proposals should include the following information:

Participation mode: parallel session, poster, thematic panel.
Identification: name of the author(s); affiliation; contact information (telephone number and e-mailsaddress); and title of the proposal.
Abstract: maximum 300 words including: title, objectives, theoretical basis, methodology, results, essential bibliography (at least 3 references).
Keywords: from 3 to 5 keywords.

Proposals may be written in Portuguese, English, Spanish or French and must be sent to the following link: Easychair.

Submission deadline: July 15th.
Deadline for acceptance notice: July 30th.

REGISTRATION:

Registration with paper: 40,00€
Registration with paper - special rate (post-graduate students): 20,00€
Participation as listener: free of charge and free of registration.

- The meeting will take place in a face-to-face format at Casa dos Livros, between 12, 13 and 14 October 2022.
- The meeting foresees the possibility of registering 50 papers in virtual format. The very limited number of papers in this format will favour the selection of candidates from abroad and, within these, of candidates without the possibility of travelling in person to the University of Porto. Participants who intend to present a paper in virtual format should make this explicit in their proposal.
- The presentation in virtual format will be restricted to only one of the days of the Meeting.
- The face-to-face meeting will not be broadcasted virtually.
